ABSTRACT

Opportunities to participate in physical activities (PA) and fitness exercises in public and private facilities have been reduced or banned due to social distancing regulations during the height of the global pandemic. Though Korea has not experienced lockdown, several venues have been restricted to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Despite the limitations of PA engagement, people have found alternative activities by using online platforms to keep active and fit. Thus, this study focuses on analyzing fitness-related video titles from YouTube. By collecting data through text mining and conducting network analysis, it provides basic knowledge of the fitness trends from pre- and post-Covid-19. As a result, 'exercise' was found to have the highest tendency and had strong connections to keywords that indicated specific methods of working out to become fit, but it also had connections to trendy keywords such as 'hip-up' and 'body-profile' which reflect the fitness culture in Korea.

ABSTRACT

Sport and physical activity contribute to people's physical, mental, and social health. The state of students' physical ability is an accurate and objective indicator, with the help of which the influence and efficiency of the educational process in physical education and sports can be revealed. The aim of this study was to determine the level of development of the physical ability of students in 5th and 6th grade, through analysis and evaluation, according to the new regulatory system for evaluation. The research was carried out with 75 pupils at a secondary school in the city of Sofia. To realize it, we used a test battery that carries information about the significant indexes of physical fitness. The battery includes five tests: running 30 m., standing long jump with both feet, 3 kg medicine ball throwing with both hands from a standing position, running 200 m., and agility and spatial coordination test. The testing and mathematical-statistical methods (variation analysis comparative analysis with t-criterion of Student and sigma evaluation method) were used in our study. The analysis of the results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the students from 5th and 6th grade, only in terms of the indicator of agility and spatial coordination. Such a difference was found in the same test, by gender and age, among the boys from the two study groups. Our research showed that the state of physical ability of the students participating in the study was at a good level, which corresponds to the average in the country.

ABSTRACT

Professional soccer players typically perform regular training sessions and match play for most of the yearly macrocycle with limited time focused on solely developing physical development. The COVID-19 outbreak in 2020 caused mass disruption to professional soccer but provided an opportunity for an alternative approach to training in attempt to develop professional soccer players physical fitness levels. In a non-randomised and non-controlled study, we aimed to assess the effectiveness of a 13-week remote based physical training programme on physical fitness levels in elite professional soccer players from Scottish Premier League club. Twenty professional soccer players undertook body composition assessments, a countermovement jump (CMJ) test, eccentric hamstring strength test and a submaximal 30-15 intermittent fitness test (IFT) pre- and post-remote based training programme. Body mass (79.3 +or- 6.7 vs. 80.0 +or- 7.3 kg), skinfold thickness (54.1 +or- 14.8 vs. 56.7 +or- 15.2 mm), maximum CMJ height (38.4 +or- 3.4 vs. 40.9 +or- 4.1 cm), eccentric hamstring strength (1035 +or- 158 vs. 1009 +or- 140 n) and percentage max heart rate reached in submaximal 30-15 IFT (81.3 +or- 5.2 vs. 82.3 +or- 7.3%) were maintained (all P > 0.05) from pre- to post training programme, respectively. Although team-based soccer specific training load was removed, and the training programmes prescribed had an increased physical focus, fitness levels were maintained. This suggests that alternative modes of training can potentially be used in instances where team-based soccer specific training load isn't required or is unavailable, without negatively impacting physical development.

ABSTRACT

Public demand in recent decades for healthy lifestyles, improving its quality and preservation of active longevity has found an echo in the form of the dynamic development of the global fitness industry. Our country is no exception and since the 1990's, domestic fitness has made a rapid spurt from zero position: according to the national community of professional participants of sport and fitness industry, fitness in Russia engages regularly up to 7 million people. The paper presents the author's statement of possible scenarios for the development of the fitness industry highlighting the factors that can transform consumer demands in post-covid economy. The hypothesis is put forward that the competitiveness and economic stability of fitness clubs in the medium term will be determined by the level of customer retention rate and by increasing their loyalty, the effective formation of which is possible by stimulating through marketing communications a positive mental and emotional response in target audiences to the potential and actual satisfaction of certain primary biological needs through fitness services. To prove the hypothesis the corresponding methodology of fitness club brand design based on the emotional approach of M. Lindstrom and K. Roberts was developed. Its verification and testing was carried out. The results obtained testify to the correctness of the author's statements and actualize the continuation of research in the field of emotional branding.

ABSTRACT

Through the advances in public health, most humans on earth are now assured to live to at least 60 years, regardless of their geographical location and socioeconomic status. Between 2015 and 2050, the proportion of the world's population 60 years and above will be expected to increase from 900 million to 2.1 billion, while the average global life expectancy will be expected to increase by additional 10 years. Experts have ascribed this development as the most significant social transformation of the 21st century. However, although the world may have successfully learned how to live longer, it has not necessarily learned how to live healthier. In most situations, old age is associated with significant loss of physical and mental functionalities, increased risk of developing multiple diseases (including COVID-19), and reduced quality of life. This association has been described as the most important global public health challenge of the 21st century. The objective of this article is to investigate the scientific plausibility of slowing down the aging process and to identify evidence-based strategies of achieving healthy aging. A review of related online free-full articles written in the English language published from 2000 to 2021 was done. It was noticed that the pace and quality of aging can be significantly influenced by controlling the lifestyle determinants of aging. Although the science of healthy aging is still evolving, there is enough evidence for healthcare professionals to recommend evidence-based strategies for achieving healthy aging to the public and policymakers.

ABSTRACT

COVID-19 has thrown the educational system of India into turmoil. India with its vast and diverse educational scenario has to prepare itself for reopening and conducting schools, taking into account the disparity in the economic strata among its institutions. Schools serve as nodal centres for distribution of nutritious food, for physical fitness and also take care of psychosocial well-being of the children. Hence, closure of schools causes multidimensional effects. Lack of space, resource constraints, disparity in accessing technological advancements are huge challenges in implementing uniform policies while reopening. The introduction of new online and offline platforms of education by the efforts of government has paved the way for a new learning methodology. This combined with additional efforts to take care of the nutritional and physical needs of the children will usher in a different era in Indian educational system. This article discusses policies that can be implemented by schools with the support and willingness of all stake holders from the students to the society at large. The methods and need to implement principles of social distancing, respiratory hygiene and etiquette, minimising large gatherings, restructuring of seating arrangements, self-discipline in reporting and treatment of illnesses are discussed.
